About Alex

Hello! I’m Alex.

I’m Alex. I have ADHD. In fact, back in 1990, I was one of the first 40 recorded people to be diagnosed and treated for ADHD in the UK. I’ve almost never not known what it’s like to have ADHD.

I’m also a registered therapist, certified coach and Mental Health First Aid Instructor. A pretty powerful combination!

After an early career in TV and film production I soon realised where my real focus lay, and changed tack to train and work as a psychotherapist, qualified and practised as a private therapist, then co-founded a successful wellbeing consultancy (Inhouse Wellbeing). ADHD Alex has been born from all this experience – personal and professional, and the lightbulb moment that what I truly wanted to do was help both individuals and organisations change their narrative on ADHD.

So I’m a qualified coach and therapist, but I also just ‘get it’. I won’t judge and you won’t have to explain everything. I’m a professional ally who knows how the brain works (the science bit) but also how it feels (the human bit). Having learned to harness my own ADHD strengths, I want to help everyone – those with ADHD, their family and employers – understand how you too can work with the marvellous ADHD brain to great personal and professional success.

ADHD UK

ADHD UK was founded in 2020 with a mission to help those affected by ADHD – either those that have the condition or people close to them: family, friends, employers, and co-workers.

ADHD UK is a charity funded solely from personal donations – of both time and money. ADHD is a condition that affects a significant number of people in the UK and, as every person is unique, it impacts individuals differently. They aim to help people navigate their life with ADHD, they want to reduce the stigma that some attach to those with ADHD, build awareness, and undertake or fund research that will have a meaningful positive impact on those with ADHD.

I volunteer my time to ADHD UK in hosting online support & learning groups on a monthly basis.

Iluria Health

Iluria have developed clinically validated monitoring software, providing support to caregivers and families for ADHD management & treatment decisions support.

They utilise a machine and deep learning-based engine which analyses changes in physiological markers (using GARMIN VENUSQ) to provide objective monitoring to physicians and other stakeholders.

I am currently supporting the research into Adult medication monitoring.
